Why Do White Christians Give a Pass to the Sins and Actions of Other White Christians?

To summarize:

‪#‎JoshDuggar sexually molested his sisters (many, and many times), and it’s called “youthful indiscretion,” and at least one prominent Christian politician running for President (Huckabee) is standing by him.

  • Travyon Martin was shot while walking home, and he’s called a “thug.”
  • Michael Brown was shot while walking home, and he’s called a “thug.”
  • Freddie Gray was killed in the custody of the police, and he’s called a “thug.”
  • Tamir Rice was shot by the police while playing in the part, and he’s called a “menace” and a “disruption.”
  • John Crawford was shot by store security while minding his own business, and he’s called a “threat.”
  • Eric Garner was asphyxiated by the police, and he’s called a “criminal.”

Do you see a weird pattern? A white Christian male can commit truly vile acts, and the white community stands behind him.

A Black American, Christian or no, can simply be minding his own business and be shot and killed by the police—and the white community rushes to explain that he was a “thug” or “criminal” or “menace.”

Why isn’t Josh Duggar considered a menace? Why wasn’t he locked up? Why was he allowed to escape ANY consequence for his admitted actions?

Where are the lectures from prominent conservatives, prominent evangelical Christians, prominent Republicans, saying that these actions by Josh Duggar are an example of the broken white family structure, or an example of poor parenting, or an example of how an abusive family situation perpetuates itself?

Why is it that we get judgmental only when non-white Americans get tangled up with the police, the law, and the courts?
