M sispann!

Folks, I’m just stalled in my efforts.

I am still practicing every day, often for an hour or more. I read, I write, I listen to my lessons, and I am always trying to improve.

But I am just completely unable to listen to normal everyday conversations and songs in Haitian Creole and understand them. Three words in and I’m at sea, every single time.

If I can see the words, it clicks and I can kind of catch on, but even then, about ten words in and I’ve had enough.

I don’t think I’m stopped completely and can never improve, but I’ve hit some wall for the last three or four weeks that I’m just not overcoming.

It is so frustrating!  I so much want to be able to speak and understand this language, but if I can’t do this outside the classroom, then I just don’t know the language.
